We’re proud to offer a beautiful range of alpaca knitwear, made from the alpacas that live right here on our farm in Taumarunui, New Zealand. Most of our products are not only made from New Zealand-grown alpaca fibre, but are also crafted right here on-site at Nevalea Alpacas, ensuring local quality and care in every piece.

Our knitwear is made using super soft baby alpaca wool, known for its luxurious feel and exceptional comfort. Alpaca fibre is a natural thermal insulator—up to 30% warmer than sheep’s wool—making it one of the best natural materials for warmth in cold weather. At the same time, it’s highly breathable and lightweight, which means you’ll stay comfortable in warmer conditions too. This makes alpaca clothing ideal for year-round wear and for all types of climates.

Unlike sheep’s wool, alpaca fibre contains no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic and suitable for those with sensitive skin. It’s also naturally odour-resistant and moisture-wicking, so it stays fresher for longer between wears. In addition to its softness, alpaca wool is incredibly strong and durable, helping garments retain their shape and resist pilling over time.
